Halloween Black Pizza

I wanted to share another squash recipe, but tomorrow is Halloween and I thought a Halloween Black Pizza was too important not to share today. I used sliced cheese and cookie cutters for gingerbread. I realized only when the pizza dough was in the baking tray that I didn’t have any Halloween cutters. So, I had to improvise with what I already had at home. I think it looked very nice. I also used an ivy cutter to make some leaves.

Halloween Black Pizza

Ingredients for 1 pizza:
– 200g strong white flour
– 100g strong wholemeal flour
– 200ml lukewarm water
– 6g Easy-Bake dried yeast
– salt
– black food colouring
– 1/2 tsp sugar
– 1 spoon of oil
– 1/2 can of chopped tomatoes in tomato juice
– chilli oil
– dried oregano
– dried basil
– olives
– Emmental cheese slices

Last minute ideas for Christmas

For today I’m making a selection of the dishes for Christmas. I’m revising the Christmas menu for this year today and it’s a perfect way to see what options I have that I didn’t think about.

Spooky eyes

Halloween is one of my favourite holidays. I like to decorate the house, dress up, buy sweets for the kids that are coming to trick or treat and I cook special food like my black buns or the graveyard cake. When The Co-operative got in touch and offered me a few of their special treats for Halloween I was delighted.

I used the strawberry jam to create the veins on the doughnut. The jam is their own brand and I must admit it exceeded my expectations. I’m quite picky when it comes to jam because I usually make my own as I prefer more unusual flavours and I use less sugar. The co-op strawberry jam had the right amount of sugar and I still could taste the fruits. It’s lovely and I would buy it.

In the middle of the doughnut I put a popping eyeball and it had the perfect size. It’s from their range and it’s delicious. The chocolate is very good and the middle is filled with strawberry mouse. It was a perfect match with the doughnut and the strawberry jam.

The box filled with goodies I received from them. The chocolate fingers are yummy, I liked the filling. I didn’t try the rest of the goodies, but they must be delicious.

Black bread for Halloween

I try to diversify the way I post my recipes and my last recipe was rye bread, but this is a very special bread: black, for Halloween. I intend to make more recipes for Halloween this week and next week, hopefully the time will allow it, as I have a few days busy with work and I’ll also be going to London. I saw that a fast food chain made black buns for Halloween and I thought they look amazing, I should try them. I had the black food colouring and hubby said it should be interesting to eat black bread.

Graveyard cake

Our first graveyard cake. Made it a few days ago, but with Halloween in mind :)

The cake is a Victoria sponge, with toffee filling. I’ also made a cupcake type of sponge in a large tray so I can carve the decorations. For the skulls I’ve used a ice tray, it is silicone and it can be used in the oven to.
