I’ve been making my own butter from almonds, peanuts, hazelnuts for years. It doesn’t take a lot of time to make and it’s healthy. There are a few jars of almond butter that don’t have any additional salt or oil, but there are harder to find and the jars are quite small.
To make your own butter you will need a good food processor or blender with ice crushing function. As I bought my new food processor this week, I’ve decided to make some almond butter to test it.
Roast 750g almonds in the oven at 200C fan for 20 minutes, stirring them once in a while so they don’t burn. Let them cool.
Put them in the food processor.
Mix them at maximum speed until the butter has the right consistency. In 5 minutes the butter should be ready.
From 750g raw almonds you can make 700g almond butter.
