Kleeb lamduan. Flower biscuits

Kleeb lamduan

November 15, 2018November 8, 2018 Anca

Kleeb lamduan are flower shortbread biscuits from Thailand. They are made to look like the lamduan flower. They not only look amazing, but they are quite easy to make and also vegan. Traditionally the biscuits are smoked with a Thai dessert candle. I didn’t have any, but it didn’t matter, as the biscuits turned out

Kolche ab-e-dandaan. From Afghanistan

Kolche ab-e-dandaan

November 11, 2018November 11, 2018 Anca

Kolche ab-e-dandaan are cardamom and pistachio biscuits from Afghanistan. As they are made with oil, this means that they are also vegan. I found on a blog that mot-à-mot translation from Dari into English is “water from teeth”, as in “melt in the mouth”. I have to agree, these biscuits really melt in the mouth.

Cornish Fairings

Cornish Fairings

October 17, 2018September 3, 2019 Anca

My husband and I are on holiday in Cornwall, so what could I have made for us to take but Cornish Fairings? These biscuits, Cornish Fairings, are a traditional ginger biscuit from Cornwall. The name “Fairing” comes from biscuits or edible treats that were sold at fairs all around the country. In time, it was

Coffee Biscuits

October 10, 2018October 10, 2018 Anca

Coffee Biscuits, surprisingly considering how much I love coffee, I never shared a recipe for coffee biscuits before. I’ve share recipes for coffee flavoured Cupcakes, Fondant Fancies, Jelly, Eclairs, Trifle cake, and, obviously Tiramisu. As I said, I’m really keen on coffee. These biscuits were very appreciated by all those who tried them. I’ve used

Biscuits Chandelier, the showstopper at the Great British Bake Off, something I’ve decided I wanted to make after seeing the show. It seemed like a great idea as I already planned to bake lots of biscuits on Saturday. On Sunday I was going to a volunteers end of season meet up, and I said I’ll

Maamoul with tea

Maamoul

September 27, 2018January 19, 2020 Anca

At Great British Bake Off it was Spice Week. After I watched the show I immediately thought I have to bake all three challenges, the first one being Maamoul. I love spices and my 45 jars of spices can attest to that. That being said, I don’t think it will come as a surprise that

Chocolate Cookies

Chocolate Cookies

September 5, 2018September 5, 2018 Anca

Chocolate Cookies, not something I do often, but we do love them. I’ve looked at a few recipes before making these and the recipe is my take on chocolate cookies. They are not very sweet because I’m not keen on sugary cookies. I prefer dark chocolate. I’ve only made 10 because I baked these when
