This was my first attempt to make fondant icing shapes. I bought some cutters, just to try them. I was impressed by how easy it is to use them.
My cupcakes, made with strong wholemeal flour and unrefined sugar. Before covering them with whipped cream and the ivy leafs.
Ingredients for the ivy cupcakes:
– 110 g flour
– 60 g sugar
– 1 egg
– 120 ml milk
– 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
– 30 ml oil
Just mix the ingredients by hand. Put them in the baking tray and leave them in the oven at 180C fan for 15-20 min.
For the topping I’ve used double cream, whisked in the food processor. I’ve added a few drops of milk to make it softer and just 1 spoon of icing sugar.
I’ve got the tools from Hobby Craft. I’m happy with the roller, it’s very good. The rack is not as bent as I would like, but it’s good anyway. The cutters are perfect.
I bought ready made fondant icing and I’m delighted with it. It had the perfect consistency and it’s very easy to use. I’ve added the food colouring. Next time, when I’ll need another colour, I’ll buy the fondant already coloured.
