My husband surprised me when he told me he bought matcha tea for me. He knew I wanted to try it as I’ve read so much about its health benefits. So when I received the tea, the first thing I wanted to do was to bake something. I tried a small batch of biscuits to see how it goes and I’m delighted with the results. This was my first attempt of making Matcha Biscuits and they were fab.
If you want a decent amount of biscuits, double the ingredients.
Ingredients for 10 Matcha biscuits:
– 60g white plain flour
– 30g sugar
– 60g butter at room temperature
– 30g semolina
– 1/2 tsp of matcha powder
Preheat the oven at 180C or 160C fan.
Put all the ingredients in a food processor and mix. When the mixture starts to resemble bread crumbs, stop and tip it onto the worktop. Knead the dough slightly. Make 10 balls and press them flat with the fingers. Put them on a baking parchment.
I made a few round shapes with the back of the pipping bag nozzle. You can leave them as they are or prick them with a fork. Put the baking tray in the oven and leave them to bake for 12-15 minutes. When they are cooked, take them out of the oven. Transfer the biscuits on a cooling rack and leave them to cool.
Enjoy them with tea or coffee.
Matcha biscuits, wow!!! Sounds amazing ♥︎
I ordered matcha last weekend. Can’t wait to have them and try your recipe!
These look delicious! I love a matcha latte and have bought a small packet of matcha but haven’t used it yet. I think it will be used in baking too, and I will have to try these matcha biscuits. Thanks for joining in with #PerfectingPatisserie!
